Wind Ecosystem

Among India’s leading wind power states with ~10,000 MW capacity and strong wind corridors. Well-established manufacturing clusters across Coimbatore–Tiruppur, Tiruchirappalli–Perambalur, Tirunelveli–Thoothukudi, and Chennai–Kanchipuram support turbines, blades, towers, power electronics, and port-linked exports, backed by a strong manufacturing and R&D base.

Offshore Wind

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and NIWE have identified eight offshore zones off Tamil Nadu, with nearly 35 GW technical potential.

Waste Management

Upcoming bio-CNG plants at Salem, Madurai, and Coimbatore.

Green Hydrogen

Sembcorp is establishing an 800 KTPA plant in Thoothukudi.

Solar Energy Growth

Home to large solar parks including 700 MW Kamuthi, with 10 GW solar capacity planned by 2030. Major investments include Tata Power Solar’s 4 GW cell and 4 GW module facility and Vikram Solar’s upcoming 3 GW unit at Gangaikondan SIPCOT, with 10 GW manufacturing capacity in the pipeline.
