Since the onset of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Guidance partnered with various stakeholders to help Tamil Nadu fight the crisis.
Driving Industrial Vaccination
In collaboration with SIPCOT, DIC, DDHS, and various trade bodies, Guidance facilitated uptake of vaccination among the industrial workforce across the state.Over one lakh employees above the age of 45 were vaccinated in this initiative.
Setting up PSA and Mini Oxygen Plant
Companies such as Paytm, NLC, Saint Gobain and Bonfiglioli helped in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure of the state by setting up PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) plants and mini oxygen plants in various parts of the state.
ISO Containers for Liquid Medical Oxygen Supply
With the help of Inox Air Products, Indian Railways and other stakeholders, 4 ISO containers were airlifted from the Netherlands to West Bengal wherein liquid medical oxygen was filled and containers were moved to Tamil Nadu. These containers will be used for medical oxygen supply across the state.
Roping in Tamil Diaspora
Tamil associations from various part of the world – Vietnam Tamil Sangam, Indonesia Tamil Sangam and others donated various medical equipment to the state.
Contributions to CM Public Relief Fund and State Disaster Management Fund
Leading businesses and trade associations contributed to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund and State Disaster Management Fund. Some marquee companies that donated generously are Apollo Tyres, Sanmar Group, TCS, Roots Industries, LMW, and Sakthi Masala among others.
24 x 7 COVID-19 Helpline
24 x 7 control room was set up at Guidance to help industries comply with the lockdown and about 3000+ calls were facilitated on a daily basis.
Getting Oxygen Concentrators
Many companies and trade bodies came together to donate oxygen concentrators to the state. The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) generously donated 486 concentrators by airlifting it from Foshan, China for Tamil Nadu. TVS Group and CII similarly donated 900+ and 1000+ oxygen concentrators to the state respectively. Korean companies that have made Tamil Nadu their home such as Hyundai and Samsung also donated 300+ oxygen concentrators. Olam in partnership with Singapore Government delivered 800 concentrators to Chennai city.
Vaccination Centres
Automobile giant Daimler India opened a vaccination centre at its manufacturing unit in Oragadam to facilitate uptake of vaccination in their locality.
Increasing Medical Oxygen Production
Licenses were issued swiftly to three companies to convert their industrial oxygen units to produce medical oxygen.This resulted in an additional 15 MT of medical oxygen generation in the state. Similarly, two air separation units were set up in the Thoothukudi district.
Together, We are confident that Tamil Nadu will be able to recover and emerge stronger than before.
